LB‑LINK USB WiFi Adapter Driver Download & Installation FAQ

Views: 0     Author: Site Editor     Publish Time: 2026-10-21      Origin: Site

Notice: LB-LINK USB WiFi adapters fall into two categories: Self-Drive Version (with built-in driver) and Non-Self-Drive Version (requires manual driver download). This classification is consistent with wireless adapters from other brands.

Q1: What is the Self-Drive Version? How do I install it?

Self-Drive adapters come with pre-loaded drivers. When plugged into your computer's USB port, the adapter will be detected as a virtual CD-ROM or virtual USB drive containing a 2-16MB driver package. Simply run the setup file stored on this virtual drive — no internet download is required.

Installation Steps

  1. Insert the wireless adapter into your computer's USB port.

  2. Open This PC and locate the virtual CD-ROM drive.

  3. Double-click the setup program and follow the installation wizard prompts.

  4. Once installation finishes, you can search for and connect to nearby WiFi networks.

Note: Some models still require you to download separate drivers for Mac / Linux systems.

Supported Self-Drive Models: WDN1300A, WDN1800H, WN351AX, WN300AX, WDN950AX, WDN951AX, WDN900AXBT, WDN952AX, WDN953AX, WDN954AX, WTN5400E, WTN6500B

Q2: No virtual CD-ROM appears after plugging in my Self-Drive adapter

  1. Try a different USB port. For desktop PCs, use rear-panel USB ports to avoid insufficient power or poor physical contact.

  2. Uninstall existing wireless drivers from other brands (TP-LINK, Tenda), as well as older LB-LINK drivers. Leftover driver files may create conflicts and prevent the virtual CD-ROM from showing up.

  3. Unplug the adapter, wait 10 seconds, then plug it back in.

  4. Open Windows Device Manager. Locate any USB device marked with a yellow exclamation mark, right-click to uninstall it, then re-insert the adapter.

  5. If the problem persists, please visit LB-LINK Download Center to obtain the correct driver.

Q3: What is the Non-Self-Drive Version? Where can I get drivers?

Non-Self-Drive adapters contain no onboard driver files. No virtual CD-ROM will pop-up upon connection. You will need to download drivers manually, just like non-plug-and-play adapters made by TP-LINK and Tenda.

Please visit LB-LINK Download Center to download drivers.

Three ways to get the correct driver:

  1. If you know your adapter's model number: download the driver built for your operating system from the download page.

  2. If you do not know the model, the product has been discontinued, or you cannot identify it via photos: look up the Hardware ID, take a screenshot, and send it to our technical support team for driver matching.

Q4: How do I find the Hardware ID for driver matching?

  1. Plug your adapter into a computer USB port.

  2. Right-click This PC → Manage → Device Manager.

  3. Find the LB-LINK wireless adapter marked with a yellow exclamation mark, listed under Other devices or Network adapters.

  4. Double-click the adapter entry and open the Details tab.

  5. Select Hardware ID from the property drop-down menu. Take a screenshot and send it to support. Our team will match the proper driver based on the chipset Hardware ID.

Q5: Yellow exclamation mark remains on the adapter after driver installation

  1. Confirm you have downloaded a driver compatible with both your adapter chipset and your operating system. Drivers from other brands will not work for LB-LINK adapters.

  2. Uninstall the faulty driver: In Device Manager, right-click the adapter → Uninstall device. Check Delete the driver software for this device. Reboot your PC and reinstall the driver.

  3. Confirm your operating-system requirements: Windows 7 needs additional system patches. Some newer WiFi-6 adapters do not support older legacy operating systems.

  4. Try a different USB port; a USB 3.0 port is recommended.

  5. If reinstalling repeatedly fails, send a screenshot of the Hardware ID to technical support for chipset verification.

  1. Most models do not support self-drive functionality under Mac or Linux. You cannot install drivers via the virtual CD-ROM; separate driver downloads are required.

  2. Please visit LB-LINK Download Center to get driver files.

  3. Linux drivers must match your system kernel version, and installation requires root terminal permissions. If you encounter errors, provide your kernel version alongside your Hardware-ID screenshot to technical support for assistance.

Q7: Driver installs successfully, but no WiFi networks show up

  1. Verify the driver installed correctly and no yellow exclamation mark appears within Device Manager.

  2. For adapters with external antennas: make sure the antenna is screwed on tightly.

  3. Confirm your computer's wireless radio is turned on. On laptops, check for a physical WiFi switch or keyboard hotkey.

  4. Keep 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands separate; verify your router has the corresponding WiFi band enabled.

  5. Uninstall third-party wireless-management software, as tools from other brands can trigger driver conflicts. Reboot your computer and retest.

Q8: My old adapter has been discontinued; I cannot find its model on the official website

Discontinued products get removed from the official website, so you will no longer be able to look-up drivers by model name.

Solution: Plug in your adapter and retrieve its Hardware ID following the steps in Q4 to locate the matching driver. If you cannot locate the driver on our site, submit your Hardware-ID screenshot to our support team. We will match the driver according to the chipset Hardware ID.

No. Even when adapters share the same chipset, each manufacturer implements custom firmware, driver signatures, and management software. Using third-party drivers can lead to device-recognition failures, blue-screen crashes, or unstable WiFi connections. Always use official original LB-LINK drivers.

Q10: Installation error: Driver file appears corrupted

  1. The driver archive may have downloaded incompletely. Re-download the offline driver package.

  2. Clear leftover driver folders on your PC. Remove residual directories for LB-LINK and other brands' wireless adapters.

  3. Temporarily disable antivirus software before starting installation. Antivirus tools may falsely quarantine driver files.
